International Education Week International Education Week

International Education Week, Nov. 16-20, promotes programs that prepare Americans for a global environment and attract future leaders from abroad to study, learn, and exchange experiences in the United States. International Programs and Services, the Center for Global Education, the Provost's Office, and the Global Proficiency Certificate Program are sponsors of the programs.

Tuesday, Nov. 17

QEP Session, 11:45 a.m. to 1:15 p.m., Johnson Center, room 240A. Join this discussion about how Mason fosters a culture of scholarship and creative activity between students and faculty. The Center for Global Education and the Center for Teaching Excellence are sponsoring this disciplinary, interdisciplinary, and co-curricular inquiry and activities as a part of Mason’s QEP initiative.

Fall of the Wall, a personal recollection by the German Ambassador to the United States, Dr. Klaus Scharioth,1:30 to 3 p.m. Johnson Center Dewberry Hall. This presentation is part of the Freedom Without Walls series.

Wednesday, Nov. 18

Immigration Options in the U.S. The Challa Law Firm will offer information for international students, scholars, and hiring managers about current issues. 10:30 to noon, Johnson Center Dewberry Hall.

Celebration of International Education, a showcase of Mason's international/global activities, noon to 2:30 p.m., Johnson Center Dewberry Hall. The event will open with a discussion about Mason's international education activities, followed by the showcase and a reception.

Oxford Honors Semester Program Information Session, 6 to 8 p.m., North West Lounge in Johnson Center (JC 210)--the atrium to the left of the admissions offices. Learn more about this exciting Study Abroad Program at the University of Oxford, England.

Thursday, Nov. 19

International Education Week Reception, noon to 2 p.m., Prince William Campus. International students, faculty, and staff at the Prince William Campus are invited to this event in the Bull Run Hall Atrium.

CGE International Panel, 4:30 to 6:30 p.m., Student Union II, Room 7. This International Education Week panel will showcase three international exchange students speaking about their experiences with U.S. education and culture, and their expectations before coming versus the reality they've found here. Come see U.S. culture through their eyes. These students are here for a semester through exchange programs with the Center for Global Education. Dominic Frey, Leicester University, UK ; Jennifer Marlton, University of Canberra, Australia, and Anna Druzhinina, University of Malta, Malta.
