Expanded Mason Reads Program Bridges Academic, Campus Life

Author Ernest J. Gaines is famously quoted for saying “To me, without books, life would be a mistake.”

It’s a statement that could suitably refer to George Mason University’s Mason Reads program, which this year will feature a literary classic by Gaines himself.

Mason Reads was launched in 2012 by the Division of University Life’s Orientation and Family Programs and Services to provide a campuswide common reading experience. Using a broader, more concentrated reach for fall 2015, its focus will be Gaines’s powerful novel, “A Lesson Before Dying.”
