Imagine Bonnie Bishop’s disappointment when transferred from Randolph College in Lynchburg, where she was captain of the women’s varsity basketball team, to George Mason University—only to discover there was no women’s basketball club.
“I can’t imagine myself not playing basketball,” says the shooting guard from Fairfax.
The junior athletic training major longed to play competitively against other school teams. She could see others on intramural teams had skills and experience that set them apart, and she realized interest in a club was high.
“So I said, well, shoot, I’ll do the paperwork.”
And not just the paperwork, but everything else that has to be done to start a club.
