Annika Rowson almost didn’t enter the Mason Majesty Pageant, which crowns one winner—male or female—every year. But upon learning that the competition highlights the contestants’ sponsoring organizations and the charities they support, the senior studying Tourism and Events Management overcame her nervousness to represent her sponsor, Campus Catholic Ministry.
“For me, it was more about helping my group than competing for my own benefit,” she says.
The pageant was one of many Homecoming Week activities on the Fairfax Campus Feb. 9-14. Other highlights included the Lip Sync Competition, S’Mores in the Park, the annual Can-Struction and Alumni Hospitality Tent events. Many activities involved teams competing to benefit charities.
