Mason’s Nepalese Students to Hold Vigil for Earthquake Victims

The Nepalese Student Association of George Mason University will hold a vigil for victims of the earthquake in Nepal this evening, Monday, April 27, beginning at 6:30 p.m. The event will take place at the clock at the Johnson Center plaza on the Fairfax Campus.

“Come join us as a community as we think of those we’ve lost in this tragic disaster,” the association said in a statement on its website. “We are all a community, a family, and we count on each other for support.”

Nepal and parts of India and Tibet were shattered by a 7.8 magnitude earthquake Saturday. The death toll is now more than 3,000, with another 6,500 reported injured. Dozens of others were killed in China and India. Alarming aftershocks continue days after the major event as rescue efforts continue.
