Classes at George Mason University begin on Aug. 27 this year, but the real start to the academic year was Thursday, Aug. 23—move-in day for freshmen.
It had its challenges, with traffic jams on the roads and in the residence halls, as students transported the necessities to create the comforts of home while also meeting their roommates. But the day was also full of excitement, and Mason President Ángel Cabrera was on hand to welcome part of Mason’s largest-ever incoming freshman class.
