Martin Luther King Day on Monday was a federal holiday, one that also closed the campuses of George Mason University. But, for some George Mason students, the day off was a “day on.”
Ninety Mason students, departing from the Fairfax Campus, arrived by bus at 10:30 a.m. at the Women Giving Back facility in Sterling, Va., to spend the next few hours sorting, hanging and organizing items of clothing.
Women Giving Back provides clothing free of charge to women and children in need, many of them in shelter environments. Some of the clothing is boxed and sent to Forgotten Women refugee camps in West Africa, in a region devastated by the Ebola outbreak.
