Dear Mason Students, Faculty, and Staff members,
By now, most have you have heard news reports of the senseless shootings at Oregon’s Umpqua Community College. The attack left ten people dead, including the gunman, and at least 10 injured.
We extend our heartfelt thoughts and concerns to those at Umpqua Community College and to the Roseburg, Oregon community as they respond to this terrible tragedy.
Events such as these can impact us in many different, and sometimes unexpected, ways and we want to remind you of resources available to support you at this time.
Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS) is available to any student who may need support or seeks to explore thoughts or reactions to recent events. To speak with a counselor, please visit CAPS in Student Union Building I, Room 3129 or call 703-993-2380. For urgent assistance after hours and on weekends, please call the George Mason University Police Department at 703-993-2810 and ask to speak with a counselor (for emergencies, please dial 911).
Faculty and Staff are reminded that all the Commonwealth of Virginia’s healthcare plans offered at Mason have Employee Assistance Programs (EAPs). For specific information on your health plan’s EAP, see http://hr.gmu.edu/benefits/health/value.php.
