Students come together to package 10,000 meals

From November 16th – 23rd George Mason University students participated in events for Hunger and Homelessness Action Week.

Monday evening, the Oxfam America Chapter @ GMU, ARISE Campus Ministries, and the National Society for Collegiate Scholars hosted their Fourth Stop Hunger Now meal-packaging event. Stop Hunger Now is an international hunger relief agency that has been fulfilling its commitment to end hunger for more than 15 years. The organization provides over 70% of its meals to support transformational development programs such as school feeding programs, vocational training programs, early childhood development programs, orphanages, and medical clinics.

Two hundred student volunteers attended the event and packaged 10,000 meals in a little over an hour. Student organizations and community members also joined the packaging assembly line.
