In the chilly pre-dawn hours of Jan. 29, about 100 George Mason University students donned their green and gold, and boarded buses to travel to Richmond, Va., to interact with state legislators as part of Mason Lobbies 2015.
Mason Lobbies is a day of advocacy where students, faculty, staff, alumni and administration join together to collectively advocate for George Mason as “One Institution with One Voice.” The initiative was started three years ago by former Student Government president Jordan Foster with the goal of demonstrating the important investment that is George Mason University.
Many participants captured highlights of the day using social media. You can view their posts and pictures here.
“By allowing the Mason community to speak to legislators, we remind them of the important role Mason plays in our great commonwealth, not only for students, but also for constituents and the private sector,” says Mason government and international politics major Kevin A. Jackson Jr., who is Student Government’s executive secretary of government and community relations.
