Step into the Women and Gender Studies lounge, located in the center’s office, and you may feel as if you’ve entered a friend’s apartment with comfortable armchairs and sofas that form conversation groups. Although this cozy room serves as a venue for meetings and classes, anyone is welcome to drop by.
“The lounge is a hub for off-campus students and others who need a ‘home’ on campus,” explains George Mason University professor Angela Hattery, director of the Women and Gender Studies Program. “We want people to feel as if they’re coming into their own living room.”
And, like the center itself, this living room invites all who enter to learn more about themselves and others while celebrating diversity and equality at Mason and beyond.
