New video series highlights campus innovations

The Office of Academic Innovation and New Ventures has launched a new video series, “A Closer Look,” to highlight innovative programs at Mason. Michelle Marks, vice president of academic innovation and new ventures, kicks off the series with a conversation with Emilie Dubert, the director of the new Contemporary Student Services Office. Mason lauded for its rate of student voting

George Mason University was one of 62 institutions nationally that achieved a voting rate of at least 50% among students during the 2018 midterm elections.

The result earned Mason a platinum seal from the All In Campus Democracy Challenge.

Nontraditional family with tight bond is Mason’s 2019 Family of the Year

George Mason University junior Abby Butler-Cefalo’s family is not the average one, but their bond is strong. This year, her family will receive the ninth annual Alan and Sally Merten Family of the Year Award at Mason’s Family Weekend on Nov. 8-10.

Time for Tailgating

Come celebrate the Patriots before select men’s basketball games this 2019-20 season. The first tailgate will be on Friday, Nov. 8, in a section of Lot A prior to the men’s basketball game at 7 p.m. vs. Longwood. More information and other dates for tailgating.

Mason community reaffirms goal of ending sexual violence

The George Mason University community came together to reaffirm the university’s pledge to end sexual violence at Mason during the sixth annual Chapter Next: Ending Sexual Violence.

The program took place in the Hub Ballroom on Monday, Nov. 4, and brought over 150 participants including Mason faculty, staff and students together to educate and challenge themselves as they answer the call to action to end sexual and interpersonal violence. Mason’s president was also in attendance.
