Welcome2Mason events continue this week with lots of Mason traditions and opportunities to get involved!  At Mason, there are more than 350 registered student organizations, countless intramural sports teams, and a multitude of service opportunities. Mason students will notice a few changes when returning to campus this semester. Two new services, the Mason Student Services Center and Mason360, have officially launched and are ready to help students stay connected and organized.

On the edge: New Mason students encouraged to grow outside their comfort zones

The newest George Mason University Patriots made their way to EagleBank Arena for New Student Convocation on Friday, August 23.

The student group, including approximately 3,800 freshmen—the largest and most diverse class in Mason history—and about 3,000 transfer students, one of the largest transfer classes to Mason, were introduced to campus leaders, heard about Mason’s values of diversity and inclusion, and learned about opportunities available to students.

Everything you need to know for Move-In Day

We are excited to welcome our students and families back to Mason soon! We will welcome our first-year students to campus on Wednesday, August 21 and our upperclass, transfer, and returning students on Saturday, August 24.

Save the date for Family Weekend 2019!

Family Weekend registration opens on August 12, and we want to see your family back on campus for this university-wide celebration! Save the dates of November 8-10 and visit masonfamilyevents.gmu.edu to register on August 12. Family Weekend is an opportunity to attend events designed to allow families to meet one another, become familiar with university staff and administrators, and spend time with their student(s).

It’s not too late to find off-campus housing

It is hard to believe we are already halfway through the summer! If you are still looking for off-campus housing for your student for this fall, the 4th of July holiday can bring about nervousness and anxiety. However, students still searching should know that there are resources and opportunities for you to find a new home before classes start this fall.

Class of 2019 ready to make an impact on the world

Members of the largest and most diverse graduating class in George Mason University history were urged Friday at the 52nd annual Spring Commencement to determine how they will make a positive impact on the world, no matter their chosen field of study.

The featured speaker, United Nations Deputy Secretary-General Amina J. Mohammed, called on Mason graduates to be sources of ideas and innovation to confront global challenges as “the leaders and torchbearers our world so desperately needs.”

Mason’s 52nd Commencement: In Pictures

Mason’s 52nd Commencement on Friday celebrated the graduation of 9,296 students from 48 states and 81 countries, and featured addresses from UN Deputy Secretary-General Amina J. Mohammed and government and international politics major Erik Truong.
